Burn calories, build muscle, get Tapfit®

Get fit and shift the unwanted weight

TAPfit is a total body workout! TAPfit engages your core and all major muscle groups in your legs and buttocks. Plus our TAPtoner resistance band means you will tone and sculpt your arms and upper body.

Shape your buttocks, upper and lower legs

TAPfit is performed while dancing on the toes of your feet with relaxed knees, taking pressure off your lower back and instead activating your quadriceps. This natural weight helps shape your buttocks and legs while the TAPfit steps will result in increased muscle power and increased calorie burn.

TAPfit keeps your mind sharp!

TAPfit has inspired the world’s first university research on the cognitive benefits of tap dancing. TAPfit is unique because the combinations of both aerobic exercise and complex activity have different beneficial effects on the brain.

Discover how TAPfit exercises your brain…

While exercise is good for your brain, tap dancing is even better! Dr. John Ratey & Eric Hagerman explain that complex activities strengthen and expand the brain network. The reason is this: any motor skill more complicated than walking has to be learned, it challenges the brain. At first, the new skill is challenging but as the circuits linking different areas of the brain are activated (the cerebellum, basal ganglia, and prefrontal cortex), your movements become more precise. With repetition, you are creating thicker myelin around the nerve fibers which improves the quality and speed of the signals from your brain telling your body to move.

The Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York found that while many activities offered cardiovascular benefits, dancing is the only form of physical activity to assist in preventing cognitive decline.
The College of Medicine studied various forms of activity and its affects on reducing the risk of Dementia. The results were as follows:

  1. Bicycling and swimming 0%
  2. Playing golf 0%
  3. Reading 35%
  4. Doing crossword puzzles at least four days a week 47%
  5. Dancing frequently 76%

As a personal trainer and former elite dancer, I love using tap dancing to keep in shape and stay physically fit.  I have had the privilege of teaching children, adults, physically challenged young adults and a group of children in an East Timor village.  Over my 20 years of involvement in tap dancing and my last 10 years as a fully qualified tap teacher, I have seen first-hand the benefits of tap dancing combined with a healthy eating plan, in helping people to achieve their fitness goals.  I am so excited to join you on your TAPfit journey!

Tap dancing for me has always been about a love of dance, music and creative expression.  I love the stage lights, I love the challenge of perfecting a new move and I love how the different sounds of your taps compliment and accentuate the different sounds of the music.  I am thrilled to share TAPfit with you.  I have been tap dancing for over 20 years now and tap dancing has benefitted me in different ways throughout this time.  I am excited to share with you the research liked to dance and tap dance and how it can improve the performance of your body and your brain.  Enjoy!

Dancing is pure joy!  I have had this passion since I was 3 years old, and since that time I have taught children, adults and young adults with disabilities.  A significant highlight for me was when I taught tap dancing to a young 9-year-old girl with cerebral palsy.  After 6 months of lessons, she was able to ride her bicycle for the first time without training wheels.  That was when we knew the benefits of Tap Dancing should be shared with the world!  On my personal TAPfit journey I felt myself becoming stronger, fitter and lost 20 pounds(10kg)in the process. Even more than that, I simply became happier.  I know you will love TAPfit as much as I do!

Welcome to TAPfit! I love TAPfit because its a total body workout combining strength, resistance and cardiovascular training in only 30 minutes! As a full-time accountant, sometimes I find it difficult to make time to workout each day which is why I love TAPfit. It’s convenient, effective and actually gets results! You’re working out your body and your brain. Plus you learn a new skill. I’ve been dancing for over 20 years and performed at an elite level so I understand the importance of staying physically active, nourishing your body with the right foods and looking after your mind. Congratulations on taking the first step…now let’s get TAPfit.
